Ever since I was a kid, I held a dream close to my heart: to set foot in the enchanting land of Germany. My father’s tales of his numerous trips to this fascinating country added to my intrigue. Listening to his stories, I became captivated by the rich experiences and cool anecdotes he shared about Germany.

So, when the chance to travel abroad emerged, Germany was my first and only choice. The allure of this country, coupled with the fact that its universities offer nearly free education and warmly welcome international students, made it an irresistible option. The prospect of studying in a country known for its technological prowess and scenic landscapes was simply too enticing to pass up.

After doing some research, I selected Epitech’ esteemed partner “Hof University of Applied Science” as my destination. Hof University stood out as one of Germany’s finest institutions for higher education. Its diverse array of curriculum promised an enriching academic experience. It was heartening to learn that the university enjoys high regard among international students, which reassured me that I was making the right decision.”

Arrival & first impressions: A Blend of Culture and Amazement

Upon my arrival in Germany, a wave of mixed emotions swept over me. The journey had been long, but as I stepped onto German soil, I was struck by a sense of wonderment. While my observations might seem trivial to some, they left a lasting impression on me.

The first thing that truly caught my attention was the sheer size of the highways and the brisk pace at which vehicles whizzed by. It was unlike anything I had experienced before. The Germans’ affinity for speed and efficiency was immediately apparent, and it left me both amazed and slightly taken aback.

Arriving during the Christmas season was an enchanting experience in itself. The city streets were adorned with festive decorations that added a magical touch to the atmosphere. The beauty of the cityscape combined with the holiday cheer created an ambiance that was nothing short of captivating. As it turns out, Christmas is a much-celebrated holiday in Germany, and it was heartening to witness the locals’ enthusiasm for the season. The streets were alive with festivities, and I found myself drawn into the spirit of merriment that seemed to envelop the entire country.

One of my earliest interactions with Hof University left an positive mark on me. The university’s international office organized a Christmas party for us exchange students. The event was a delightful mingling of diverse backgrounds and cultures. I had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people from across the globe, each with their own stories and experiences to share.

A trait that I very much appreciated in Germany was the kindness and respect that the German people consistently displayed. Their hospitality was palpable, and their willingness to engage and interact made me feel welcomed and valued.

In retrospect, those initial moments of awe and amazement marked the beginning of a journey filled with cultural exploration, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences. Germany had opened its arms to me, and I was ready to embrace all that it had to offer.”

Embracing Germany: Unforgettable Experiences and Learning Opportunities

“During my time studying in Germany, I had the chance to explore different cities, each with its unique charm. One standout experience was in Essen, where I dined at a blind restaurant. The darkness heightened my senses, and it was incredible to see a visually impaired waiter navigate the room flawlessly.

Academically, I was drawn to the diverse computer science modules the university offered. Each lesson opened up new horizons and fueled my passion for the field.

Outside of classes, I found a lively community through sports and group activities. These experiences not only fostered friendships but also promoted overall well-being.

As I reflect on my study exchange, I’m grateful for the memories and lessons that will stay with me. From extraordinary dining to expanding my academic interests, Germany provided a backdrop for growth and self-discovery in every sense.”
