Minsk residents have dinner and breakfast, as a rule, at home. But what about lunch? And it smells the same as it did 30 years ago: sometimes this smell is appetizing, sometimes sour, sweet, burnt, suffocating, but without inhaling it, you will never know what it is like to live under socialism, when the state takes care of your food. Pots rattle, steam from the borscht hits right in the face. The food is mundane, soups are made with bones and lard, salads are made with lots of mayonnaise, and cutlets are made with white bread crumb. Traditionally, such food was served on iron plates stuck to brown trays, but these are different times. Choosing wisely, you can eat delicious, cheap and healthy here: after all, according to the standards established back in Soviet times, dietary dishes should be on the menu every day, which you often won't find in commercial restaurants.
