With a keen interest in the Data Analytics field, she set out to explore new horizons, gain invaluable experiences, and immerse herself in a different culture. In this article, Sephora shares her insights, challenges, and cherished moments during her time at the Technological University of Dublin.

Choosing Ireland for the Study Exchange

Sephora, why did you choose Ireland and the Technological University of Dublin for your student exchange?

Initially, I wanted to stay in the EU for practical reasons, like administrative facilities and ease of traveling within Europe. My main focus was on the programs offered by universities. Ultimately, I chose the Technological University of Dublin because of its intriguing Data Analysis certification program. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to delve deeper into my passion for data analytics.

First Impressions and Campus Life

Interviewer: How was your arrival in Ireland, and what were your first impressions?

When I first arrived, I was struck by the friendliness of the people and their relaxed pace of life, which contrasted with the hustle and bustle of France. The abundance of pubs and the Irish love for Guinness left a lasting impression. However, I did find it challenging to understand the strong Irish accent, so be prepared to ask for clarifications often.

The Highlights of the Study Exchange

What did you enjoy the most during your study exchange ?

I appreciated the flexibility of the course schedules, which allowed me ample free time to explore Ireland’s beautiful landscapes and historical sites. Some lecturers were exceptionally attentive to students’ needs, and the diverse range of modules offered allowed me to broaden my knowledge.

Gaining New Perspectives

How has this study exchange experience transformed you?

Living in Ireland for a year broadened my horizons and provided me with a fresh perspective on life. I learned to navigate the challenges of student residences and the importance of managing a budget effectively. Academically, I gained fundamental knowledge through various modules offered at the university.

Advice for Future Tech4 Students

What advice would you give to future Tech4 students studying in the same university?

I have some tips to share:

  1. Be prepared for housing expenses; living costs can be significant.
  2. If you enjoy socializing at bars and pubs or love exploring scenic places, you’ll have a great time in Ireland.
  3. Keep in mind that some courses might be shared with 2nd or 3rd-year students, resulting in varying difficulty levels.
  4. Balancing a part-time job and completing your IPE is feasible within the schedule.
  5. Don’t expect to find bakeries everywhere; they are not as common as in other countries.
  6. The city center is relatively safe, so explore it with confidence.

Sephora’s journey in Ireland exemplifies the transformative power of study exchanges. The experiences she gained, the lessons she learned, and the memories she made will undoubtedly shape her future endeavors. As she returns to Epitech with a wealth of knowledge and a broader outlook on life, Sephora’s study exchange will forever remain etched in her heart as a pivotal chapter in her academic journey.
